Cultural Linguistic Services, within the Office of Talent Management, is in need of tutors to help UW-Madison employees develop their learning in areas such as: english language, literacy (English and Spanish), writing, math, and other subjects. Online Courses Now Available in Three Areas!

There are many different online learning opportunities. Two primary providers offer online courses in four areas: 1) business skills, 2) information technology (IT) skills, 3) health and safety, and 4) legal compliance.  Each provider also offers expanded options.  At the end of this section, you can also find free online learning opportunities. Online Business Skills Collections

SkillSoft (COST $105 for twelve months)

Mindleaders (COST $81 for twelve months)

SkillSoft's instructional design model is based primarily on the proven concepts of performance-oriented instruction, mastery and the sequencing of instructional activities and strategies. The model draws heavily from adult learning principles that emphasize learner initiative, self-management and experiential learning. The design of each SkillSoft business course starts with the definition of learner-focused performance objectives and then proceeds to the selection and implementation of instructional strategies and learning activities appropriate for those objectives. Frequent practice questions or exercises, along with assessments, measure learners' achievement of those objectives.

          Features over 1,000 courses on topics such as Professional Effectiveness, Management & Leadership, Project Effectiveness, Business Strategy & Operations, Sales & Customer-Facing Skills, Finance, HR, and <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Administration.

The Technical Subscription includes courses on the latest computer technologies, including .NET, SQL Server, Java, XML, CompTIA, Cisco, Linux, UNIX, and Visual Basic. It also includes training on mainframe courses such as CICS/ESA, COBOL, DB2, ISPF, JCL, MVS, QMF, REXX, SQL, VSAM, and XEDIT, among others.

 Important Notes About Payments for Online Learning Opportunities

 Please note: you will be registering for the complete package, not for individual courses. A one-time payment provides access to these  courses for one year. The year begins with date that you receive your log-on and access information.  You will be given your log-on and access information within two business days of payment.  You are able to pay with a credit card online as the last step of the registraiton process.

 Cancellations cannot be made once you register and pay for this course library; as soon as you register, you are financially responsible to the Office of Human Resource Development for payment.

 When the registration process is complete, you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email with your login, password, and address for access to the courses, after your payment  has been received.
