WORKPLACE LEARNING PROGRAM
The Workplace Learning Program includes four areas of education.
1. Workplace English Language Learning Classes are for employees in custodial, food service and animal research technician positions who have limited English proficiency. The classes are taught in the workplace and are intended to help develop workplace communication skills and foster a positive line of communication between the ELL employees and the supervisors. Areas of instruction include: speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar and pronunciation.
The Expanded Learning Opportunities below are available for English-speaking employees and employees with limited English proficiency:
2. Employee Learning Center
At the Employee Learning Center, individuals will identify educational goals and develop skills to enhance opportunities for their advancement in the workplace.
Areas of instruction may include:
- Computer Skills
- Workplace Math
- Writing Skills
- GED / HSED Instruction
- English Language
3. Workplace Trainings will consist of basic computer classes, work-life skills workshops, and trainings where positive communication between supervisors and employees is fostered.

4. The Volunteer Tutoring Program will allow employees to identify individual learning needs with the help of tutors who can provide instruction and assistance.
